Aime Vaughan on why Merrithew Pilates equipment powers her Pilates studios.
For Aime Vaughan, fitness isn’t just a career—it’s a way of life. After 30 years in the fitness industry, her passion remains unwavering. Inspired by her mother, a group aerobics instructor, Aime followed in her footsteps, becoming a group fitness teacher and managing gyms and health clubs before embarking on her own business journey. In 2019, Aime and her ex-business partner opened Vibe Pilates Studios, starting with their first location in Bowen Hills, Queensland, Australia.
“I’ve seen it all in the fitness industry,” Aime says. “I knew I couldn’t keep up with high-energy workouts forever, so I turned to Reformer Pilates. It’s a form of exercise I could do long-term, and I’ve seen it work wonders for our clients. The turning point for them is when they stop dragging their heels and start seeing results that truly resonate with their bodies and lifestyles.”
Vibe Pilates is built on Aime’s vision. “I want to help as many people feel better and more comfortable in their own skin.” Her studios, located within YMCA facilities in Bowen Hills, Victoria Point, and Jamboree Heights, have quickly grown into thriving communities.
With approximately 14 Merrithew SPX Max reformers per location, the studios offer a diverse range of classes, including Foundation, Total Body Tone, Fit Reformer, Abs Butts and Thighs, Restore and Regain, and the increasingly popular Cardio Tramp classes. “We just started offering cardio tramp classes at Victoria Point, and they’ve taken off,” Aime shares. “People are fighting for spots. I even had to purchase two more reformers to meet demand!”

The straps also lock into place, so we don’t deal with uneven straps mid-class, which is such a game-changer. And we can do planks on the footbar confidently, knowing the machine is sturdy underneath.”
I also believe one of the standout features of the Merrithew reformers is the cardio tramp attachment. “It’s great because of its softness,” Aime notes. “The slight give compared to other jump boards provides extra support. The feedback from clients and teachers has been amazing. They love how it feels, and it’s easy on the joints.”
The versatility of the reformers allows Vibe to cater to a wide range of clients, from teenagers to seniors in their 80s. While high-energy classes like Cardio Tramp are popular, there’s also demand for slower-paced sessions like Restore & Regain. “People want to come and stretch on the reformer. It’s a great way to relax and reset,” Aime says.
True to its name, Vibe Pilates is all about energy and positivity. Neon lights and music add to the welcoming atmosphere, and there’s plenty of laughter during classes. “One of the things I love about our studio is the diversity,” Aime says.
At the end of the day, Aime believes part of her success is attributed to the equipment she’s chosen to use. “You cannot skimp on quality,” she insists. “These machines allow us to deliver the best experience to our clients, and that’s what matters most. The whole Leisure Concepts team were amazing, it was easy to order, and everything was on point. Mark and the crew who set up the equipment were fantastic, so approachable and professional. It was a great customer experience.”
