“Oh by the way I have ( insert a variety of weird conditions)”, these are the words Pilates teachers hear on a regular basis. As a teacher we often hear this phrase and start to panic thinking "I am not able to help this person - I don’t know enough”. For many years I have lived with this sense of “surely there is someone better who can help this person”. Eventually, I realised that the reason why these people land on our doorsteps is because they have a regular team of medical professionals but need movement practitioners able to support them in their functional day to day activities.
Unpacking and understanding how to manage clients who are not always healthy and fit, but wanting to take control of that beyond a diet culture is my focus, and I know it is that of many teachers of the Pilates method.
What we offer?
In 2025 our Body Organics Educators will be offering a series of courses and intensives for those teachers who are wanting more knowledge and skills to work with a wide variety of clients. Our advanced certification courses are more than just advanced repertoire, it is about providing skills to support:
- Body reading and observational skills
- Advanced critical reasoning
- Problem solving
- Programming
- Goal setting
This is about giving you the knowledge to be able to help clients with common chronic conditions such as arthritis, or with cancer, joint replacements and more.
The courses are supported by detailed and considered professionally filmed and edited online resources that become your pre learning and reference material. You have access to all online content for three years. Detailed manuals are part of our brand and included with most of our courses. The face to face experience of the courses includes practical problem solving, observational and assessment techniques that you can apply immediately in your studio setting. We use the full range of Pilates apparatus plus CoreAlign and a variety of props. We seek to create confident teachers who feel comfortable with asking why and responding to the needs of their clients.
What we are not?
We are not stuffy and obsessed with advanced repertoire that is not going to be used by your average client. We know that progression is an individual experience with individual goals.
We are not inflexible, insisting that there is one way and that perfection is our end goal.
